On our Italy trip we came across a hidden gem I absolutely fell in love with. Together with Milan (see this post) it was my favorite part of our Italy trip. Therefore I just need to share this with the world. We came across this absolutely amazing B&B as we wanted to have a proper tuscan experience and stay somewhere between Florence and Pisa.
So we found Luca and Viola’s beautiful B&B Podere Rondinaio in the Tuscany Mountains surrounded by olive field and beautiful little chapels.
Already on our drive up the hill I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the location with a view over the whole valley until Pisa. We drove there from Florence in about 30 min. It’s the perfect location to see all the beauties of Tuscany and coming back to a quite sanctuary in the evening (especially for sunset!)
We got la camera limone and I loved it. We had our own bathroom and exit. Viola and Luca were just so cute! They showed us around in the new furnished rooms! All the rooms are designed by them and the whole family with a lot of love and wonderful restored vintage furniture. You can feel the love they have put into building this wonderful place.
Thinking that nothing could top this, we had a truly Italian breakfast with a view! Everything was made by Viola herself. Jam of their own fruits, freshly pressed juice and Violas cakes are to die for. The espresso was probably the best I ever had!
We had great talks with Viola and Luca and they showed us the photos of how the renovated the whole place. We even learned some Italian! The restaurant up the hill, Viola and Luca recommended was so great. A nice traditional countryside restaurant where locals have their dinner for an affordable amount of money (not to compare with Florence!).
See the photos yourself. We bought a can of their homemade olive oil and I am still saving it, because it is the best! We hope to be back at one stage. Maybe for a weekend getaway!
